Community Information
The Seymour Housing Authority manages Smithfield Gardens Assisted Living, an elderly assisted living community in Seymour located on Smith Street.
Smithfield Gardens provides a special combination of housing, supportive services, personalized assistance, and health care designed to respond to the specific needs of individuals who require help with activities of daily living.

Qualifications
To qualify for the assisted living community, you must be at least age 65 and require assistance with at least one activity of daily living (i.e. medication management, showering, meal preparation). Your total household annual income must fall within the range shown in the chart below, and your total assets cannot exceed the asset maximum.
Rent & Utilities
The rental charges for the assisted living program are $840 or $1,000 per month depending upon the amount of an individual’s gross annual income. The monthly rent includes utilities. This community also offers a meal plan which consists of three meals per day prepared by a professional chef and served in the main dining room. The monthly cost for the meal plan is $465. The cost of personalized assistance for the activities of daily living mentioned above are normally covered by the State of Connecticut Department of Social Services through the Connecticut Home Care Program for Elders.
